A thriller set in the near future, the story follows young New York City engineer (Liam Neeson) who through a series of events finds himself trapped in an automated high rise building which literally shuts down for repairs each night. The only way to escape is to do everything manually; he must make sure power is restored to each floor, call for help when supplies run low, and keep his 10 year-old daughter alive. As he tries his best to survive an entire 28 days without power or communication with anyone outside the building, he's forced to rely on his wits and ingenuity if he has any hope of escaping. This film was released in 2006 but is still very relevant today. It's a very realistic and thought-provoking film about what we do without electricity, as can be seen as can by its setting (a building where power is disconnected 24/7). The film shows the lengths people will go to in order to be comfortable. We see how some people will force themselves to tolerate each other's presence; some slow slow down more than others; some risk their lives for food and water and fail to realize it (if you look closely at the first person who steals the camera first, he has a small sprained ankle and limps slowly); some will hunt for it themselves; and some will die if they don't find it. Many people will die without power, so when they do discover it, they use it to their advantage. It is clear when the film ends that all the characters are in dire straits without power or contact with each other, but many people are in worse situations than the characters in this film. Still, I recommend watching this movie because it is very thought-provoking and real.Rotten Tomatoes gives the film a rating of 79% based on 92 reviews, with an average rating of 6.6/10. The site's consensus reads: "Fearless boasts impressive special effects and constantly escalates tension between characters. Liam Neeson is convincing in his role and makes the movie more believable." Metacritic gives the film a score of 63 out of 100 based on reviews from 23 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Roger Ebert gave the film 3.5 stars out of 4, concluding that "If you want speed and slam-bang action, look elsewhere; if you want characters who stay in your memory and an ending that will break your heart, "Fearless" is for you." The film grossed $32 million in North America, mostly from its 3678 screens debut, against a budget of $70 million. From: [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0341906/fullcredits] Production company: Fox 2000 Pictures / Dark Castle Entertainment Director: Peter Weir Screenwriter: Mark Bomback, Michael Seitzman, David Auburn • In this film, Liam Neeson plays a role similar to that of Tom Hanks in Zathura, in that he is the only character who gets to see the inner workings of a "magical" house. In both films, there is a sense of imminent danger which is kept in check by one character's knowledge and another's ignorance. cfa1e77820
