In this 2014 romantic comedy drama by director Gautam Menon, a man falls in love with a woman he randomly meets on the street and has no idea who she is or where she's from - even after they've been dating for a while. Curious to find out more about her background and why her life seems so mysterious, he sets out to track down this girl and unmask her secret identity! The story begins when Mr. Majnu (Ajit Agarwal) - a retired school teacher who is very particular about his appearance and decides to put in lots of time in getting his hair and beard in perfect shape. Unfortunately one day, Mr. Majnu is forced to visit the hospital after hurting his back while taking out the trash, which forces him to stay inside for 7 days! While staying indoors with no TV or phone access, he finds that all he has to amuse himself with are old Hindi films that he's always watched since childhood; including the classic "Mr. Majnu" (which he actually refers to as "The Big Fool"). As fate would have it, Mr. Majnu is shown a love story about a woman named Mr. Majnu's (Kajol) life, and he instantly falls in love with her despite the fact that she has no idea who he is or what his real name is. He addresses her as "Mr. Majnu" because he assumes that she's this "Mr. Majnu," since the film's title character was originally played by Manoj Kumar, but when he hears from his friend Sandip (Satyadeep Mishra) that this Mr. Majnu was in fact a famous movie star in the 1970s, then Mr. Majnu realizes that this girl is in fact a very famous film star - and yet she's never heard of him! He becomes completely fascinated by the mystery behind her identity and decides to try and uncover it! Of course, Mr. Majnu's plans become much more complicated when he finds out that the girl he falls in love with (whose full name is actually Kajol) is still married to her first husband, to whom she was married for 19 years before tying the knot with him once again - even though they haven't been together since 1978! To add even more confusion to this love triangle, Mr. Majnu doesn't know that Kajol's first husband happens to be none other than the famous Bollywood superstar (Ritesh Deshmukh) who he once idolized! After watching their favorite movies together, Mr. Majnu realizes that this girl is not only the "Mr. Majnu" he loves but also his favorite movie star, Kajol!
